Mulege, although really situated about 1.5 miles from the mouth of the inlet, still has some shore diving. At the inlet mouth there is a lighthouse, which sits atop the point protecting our very own Palomita. The reef is excellent for snorkeling and can be a great place for a night dive.
Off of the point of the lighthouse, just out of shore diving range, is a dive called "The Temple". This dive site consists of several rock pinnacles that come to just a few feet of the surface. The surrounding seabed is primarily sand, so these rock formations provide a great haven for creatures you may not normally see in such waters. Again, this is a shallow dive, 30'/10 meters maximum, and so provides a great final dive of the day.
Finally there is the shore dive from Mulege's only beach. It is primarily a cobble bottom, but you can still see many types of flat fish and invertebrates. This is also a prime location for seahorses.
As with most easily accessible shore dives, all of Mulege's sites make a excellent night dives, even at "The Temple" where you will night dive from the boat. Night diving from Palomita also allows for a more relaxed dive, no need to wade in and out of the water, just drop right over the side. If you do not have torches or glow sticks for the night dive, our shop offers rentals of torches and the glow sticks are very reasonably priced.
